Markos Statement
The strongest one-make cup racing car in the world?
It is not only the strongest one-make cup racing car in the world, but also the one with the closest relationship to GT racing. Three years after the debut of the Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo, the racing car has now been extensively revised. The new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO raises the bar even higher than its predecessor with completely revised aerodynamics, new elements for greater safety and numerous mechanical and electronic improvements.
The race car is also equipped to compete in international GT championships, GT Cup class and Endurance races, offering drivers and teams even more possibilities. The vehicle has been extensively revised to underline the model's success factors even more strongly: The performance and thrill of a GT3 at significantly lower running costs.
You can see that in the vehicle. It clearly belongs in the category of sports cars that don't need a lot of explanation, but let the lap times speak for themselves. In contrast to street-legal sports cars, a race car does not require any compromises in the set-up.
The result: With 1:53.3, the Huracan is by far the fastest car I've ever tested at the Pannoniaring. Unfortunately, the Pirellis of the tested car were already pretty much at the end, otherwise a 1:50 time would probably have been possible.
Impressive is the downforce due to the GT3 specification, which allows up to 30 km/h faster cornering speeds than usual in e.g. curves 1 and 3. The V10 naturally aspirated engine turns willingly upwards and has, even without forced ventilation, sufficient power and torque.
The racing ABS works excellently and the brakes have no problems with the only 1,270kg light vehicle. The steering is smooth and direct and unlike the Porsche GT3 CUP the car has traction control.
As with all of our test candidates, this was deactivated during the HOTLAP, but even non-professionals have a perfectly functioning safety net when the car is switched on, in order to exploit the reserves of the car and push the limits. The sequential 6-speed transmission does its job perfectly and the overall package fits easily. The closeness to the GT car is noticeable on the race track and the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO is a super fast racing car with impeccable characteristics.
CONCLUSION: The LAMBORGHINI HURACÁN Super Trofeo EVO is not only the most powerful one-make cup race car currently available, it is also definitely a perfect choice as a track tool, provided you have the necessary cash. Thanks to racing ABS and perfectly tuned traction control, it is much easier to drive than a GT3 CUP Porsche, but its driving characteristics are on a par with those of a GT3 CUP Porsche. The V10 naturally aspirated engine also has a great sound and due to the almost production-like engine, service intervals are kept to a minimum.
