Markos Statement

The GT3 RS surpasses itself as a facelift!
Optically, the current GT3 RS, like the Vorfacelift, is very much based on its racing brother, the GT3 CUP and now has 520 instead of 500 hp.

But the huge rear wing and the wheel arch vents are mainly aerodynamic reasons and provide extremely good downforce values. In addition, compared to the GT3, an extra track and the rear axle steering, which was recalibrated in 2018, provide enormous stability in the high-speed range.

The front is taken over by the current RS from the GT3 facelift.

New are the additional air intakes on the front hood, as we have already seen on the top model GT2 RS. Other optical changes are a slightly reworked rear wing, the facelift rear lights and new skirts. The brakes work almost at GT3 CUP race car level and the ABS tuning is perfect for the track.

The PDK shifts quickly and extremely precisely and when changing gears the connection to the engine speed is optimal, so there are no disturbing influences caused by drag torque.

Compared to the 911 turbo S, whose body was also used here, the car is also perfectly balanced but more demanding in terms of its use on the race track and demands the driver's utmost concentration. The more than 3 seconds faster lap time compared to the 2016 tested Vorfacelift is the sum of the improved details and presumably Michelin has also optimized the tire compound. We also had heavy traffic at that time, which was probably also due to one second. Once again Porsche proved that they know how to keep raising the bar.

CONCLUSION: Even the pre-facelift model of the RS clearly did everything better than the normal GT3 and is very much tuned towards racing. The 2018 model surpasses itself. On the race track it also reestablishes its ranking and leaves the turbo S clearly behind, although it has more power and traction, with similarly good brakes and suspension. Even on the GT2 RS, the spearhead from Porsche, he is missing less than 1 second on the Pannoniaring, which shows how incredibly fast the current GT3 RS has become. However, it must be mentioned that the 2:03 with the GT2 RS was measured on Dunlop Sportmaxx tyres which are not optimally suited and that with Pilot Sport Cup 2 it is probably possible to gain 2 seconds. You can also see how important the choice of tyres is!
