Markos Statement

With the C6 Z06, Corvette has already put a vehicle on the wheels with a chassis and brakes that are trackday-capable and can keep up with the enormous engine power.
The seventh generation of course impresses with its further significant performance boost from the built-in compressor. With 659 hp and 881 Nm there is always a brutal amount of power available.
Fortunately, the changes are not limited to the engine: both chassis and brakes are perfectly tuned to the vehicle. The ABS regulates finely and almost imperceptibly without unpleasant control interventions and the 371mm brake discs in the front decelerate impressively without fading. The steering forces are higher than on the predecessor, but on the other hand the grip on the front axle, which, as it should be for the racetrack, behaves very directly when turning. The traction front and rear leaves nothing to be desired, which is certainly partly due to the excellent Pilot Super Sport.

Compared to the normal Corvette C7, everything in the current Z06 naturally feels faster and more direct, and it definitely deserves the title "super sports car".
Unfortunately the automatic could not convince me, which is a pity, because otherwise the Z06 has no weaknesses and is an absolute fun machine. Contrary to the opinion of some car magazines, there is one point of criticism: When shifting up, there are annoying delays and also the possibility to select the next lower gear before the curve, which is usual in this category, is missing or often remains unclear whether the automatic has taken the gear selection when shifting down or not.

CONCLUSION: The Corvette Z06 can call itself a super sports car more than ever before and sets the bar damn high or low for the competition in terms of price-performance ratio, because, without wanting to start philosophical discussions, you save about EUR 100,000 compared to the competition. In return, a BMW M3 would be sufficient if the two seats were not enough for a family outing. However, if you are looking for the fastest open-top two-seater on the market with great sound and brutal but controllable power development and would like to go on the race track every now and then, you will certainly be happy with the Z06 Convertible and need not fear comparison with German or Italian super sports cars.
