Markos Statement

Porsche is one of the few production sports cars that also feel at home on the racetrack and can take a rough ride. Unfortunately, downsizing has also affected the current 718 model series of Boxster & Cayman and instead of a six-cylinder naturally aspirated boxer engine, the new models start with turbocharged 4-cylinders. In the case of the GTS, at least 2,500 cc provide halfway displacement and, as usual with the GTS models, it comes with a number of sporty extras and dynamic driving aids that you would otherwise find in the surcharge list. We don't want to get into the philosophical considerations of downsizing here. What interests us more: Is the GTS a track tool that is fast and also fun? Admittedly, the sound does not necessarily arouse great emotions, but it is OK and does not detract from the pleasure. What definitely brings a grin to the face and leaves no doubt as to whether this is a "real Porsche" are the familiar features from Zuffenhausen, such as the chassis, braking and steering.

The Alcantara sports seats provide excellent lateral support without sacrificing comfort, the steering can be described as ingenious throughout and the vehicle can be driven extremely precisely on the race track. The PDK has already proven itself in other models and works perfectly in the Boxster. The same applies to the famously good Porsche brakes, which also do an excellent job here.

CONCLUSION: The Boxster 718 GTS is a precise driving machine that can be driven very fast. It may not convert the die-hard 6-cylinder & displacement freaks, but the new car is a brutally well-tuned car for weekend excursions and racetracks and, with 2:13 at the Pannonia Ring, ranks ahead of significantly more powerful cars and proves that Porsche knows how to further increase performance despite downsizing.
