Markos Statement

During the tests for the hotlaps, there are always surprises. In one direction as well as the other. The BMW X6 M was definitely one of them. Including the crew, we're talking about 2.5 tons here around the ring, after all. And even though the X6 M's design certainly doesn't go in the direction of a track tool, it's still a "real M" and I was curious to see whether it would rightfully wear this moniker on the racetrack. The V8 engine draws from the full 4.4 liters of displacement and far from the current fan community discussion about the turbocharged M models M2, M3 & M4 provides in the X6 M already since 2008 a bi-turbo for additional power and a brutal torque. The xDrive all-wheel drive, in the X6 M with a sportier set-up, provides enormous traction. Together with the beefy V8, the X6 M appears lighter than it actually is. The higher center of gravity doesn't really bother either, and the slightly understeering behavior ensures that the vehicle always remains easy to control. There is also nothing to complain about the superbly working 6-speed automatic. The biggest surprise was definitely the steadfastness of the brakes: Even at rough speeds, they were never overtaxed, always well controllable and did not lose any braking power.

CONCLUSION: Although the X6 M is not built explicitly for the racetrack, you can definitely have fun with it at a trackday and "annoy" one or the other sports car.
