Markos Statement

With the new Opel Astra OPC, the price-performance-fun ratio is right. At the outset, it should be mentioned that the limited-slip differential of the tested Astra OPC had unfortunately already been challenged for 40t km and had virtually no locking effect any more. The tyres were also already pretty much at the end. On the rear axle, 20mm track wideners were mounted on each side, which increased the understeering layout, which was already detrimental to safety. As a result, there was a clear lack of traction at the rear end to bring the impressive power, which had been increased to around 320 hp, to the track. The Brembo system with ventilated and perforated 355 discs with four-piston brake callipers works well, but here too "safety first" applies and the brake balance is a little too front-heavy. Absolutely positive are the good sound and the very well-tuned tight suspension in OPC mode. The manual 6-speed gearbox also shifts precisely and crisply. The Recaros offer perfect lateral support and make the OPC an affordable racer that is subjectively more fun than the pure performance data would suggest.

CONCLUSION: With a functioning lock, new rubber and no track widening, the potential of the car is certainly significantly higher and faster lap times are possible.
