Markos Statement

The Skoda Octavia RS Combi is a successful combination of everyday utility and fun. Of course, it is not a track tool of the usual kind, but when we have the opportunity, we also like to chase sporty-oriented station wagons around the ring. Unfortunately, as with most cars today, the ESP cannot be completely deactivated. That's a pity, because the suspension tuning is quite dynamic and the rear end turns in nicely; the turn-in behaviour is also extremely good. The DSG works great when shifting up, but the gears cannot be locked and you have to rely on what the DSG "serves up" when accelerating quickly. When shifting down, the DSG only allows this at low revs, i.e. when you are already in a bend. So you can't "preselect" the gear, as you can with the BMW DSG, for example, so that it is automatically engaged at the right revs. But as I said, we're not talking about a thoroughbred sports car here. The ergonomics and seats are good, the suspension tuning rather soft, but the handling is good. The engine, which is also used in the GTI, works unspectacularly but well, but unfortunately already lost power after 2/3 of the lap due to the high oil temperature, i.e. the potential is higher than the 2:29 min reflect.

CONCLUSION: Anyone who buys the RS will not do so with the intention of acquiring a track tool, but rather an everyday car with a fun factor, and this is definitely the case. If you do without the cool "race blue", you can hunt for corners almost inconspicuously.
